Marriage and family reunification

Registering a marriage at the Turkish consulate in Jordan

This route has one condition we cannot soften: one of the spouses must hold Turkish citizenship. Where it holds, the marriage is registered with the Turkish mission in Amman and a marriage record document is issued, usually without either spouse travelling. Where it does not hold, your route is a different one — registering the marriage inside Türkiye at the civil registry — and we say so in the first message, not after you have paid.

What is hard for you, we can manage — God willing

Who is this service for?

  • Couples where one spouse holds Turkish citizenship and who want the marriage entered in the Turkish register.
  • Anyone married outside Türkiye who needs a Turkish document that the offices here will read.
  • Anyone for whom travelling as a couple is not practical, asking whether registration is possible without both attending.
  • Anyone who needs the Turkish marriage document for a later procedure: family residence, registering a birth, or family reunification.
  • Anyone who does not yet know whether this route applies to them or registering the marriage inside Türkiye does.

What we do

  • We read the condition before anything else: does either spouse hold Turkish citizenship? That single answer decides whether this route is yours.
  • We review the marriage document and compare the spelling of names and the dates against what the Turkish register holds.
  • We arrange the translation and certification the receiving authority requires, and tell you which document has to come before which.
  • We prepare the application and its annexes and follow it with the Turkish mission in Amman.
  • We pass on any further request as it arrives, and explain what it means before you act on it.
  • We follow through until the marriage record document (Formül B) is issued, and set out where it is used in the procedures that follow.

And what we do not do

  • The condition is not ours and we cannot bend it. If neither spouse holds Turkish citizenship, no arrangement makes this route possible, and we will not sell you an attempt whose ending we already know.
  • We do not influence the mission's decision and we promise no timeframe. What it accepts and what it asks for in addition is its own affair, and its pace is not in our hands.
  • We do not produce a document that cannot be verified, and we do not alter information on a document, whatever the reason.
  • If the condition does not hold we tell you at the outset, and we take nothing from you for that answer.

Documents required for marriage at the consulate

This is the core list for most cases. Tick them off as you gather your papers — you can print this page and take it with you.

What you tick stays in your browser. Nothing is sent until you press the button.

Why do we ask for a full image rather than a crop? Because the file is read letter by letter: a name written one way on the marriage document and another way in the Turkish register makes the two papers read as two different people. The stamp and the edge are part of the document, not decoration on it. Checking these details before sending costs far less than sending the file again afterwards.

How the procedure runs for marriage at the consulate

  1. We check the condition first

Does either spouse hold Turkish citizenship? That answer alone decides whether this route is yours or whether registering inside Türkiye is. We do not open a file before it.

  2. Reviewing the documents and checking the names

We read the marriage document and what establishes citizenship and civil status, and compare names and dates against the Turkish register. What sends files back usually shows up here, and knowing it now costs nothing.

  3. Translation and certification

We arrange the translation and certification the receiving authority requires, and tell you which document comes before which. A correct document in the wrong order sends you back to the start.

  4. Filing and following the application

The file is submitted to the Turkish mission in Amman and we follow it. If a further request arrives we pass it on and explain what it means before you act.

  5. The marriage record document is issued

Once the document is issued we arrange for it to reach you, and set out where it is used here: family residence, registering a birth, or a later procedure.

Cost: we separate what is paid to others from our fee

Paid to others

Official fees

Mission fees, translation and certification, and shipping where it is needed — paid to those who charge them, and varying by your case and the number of documents. These amounts do not pass through us and we give you the receipt.

Paid to us

Our follow-up fee

For reading your case, reviewing the documents and checking the names, coordinating translation and certification, preparing the application and following it until the document is issued. We tell you the full amount before we begin.

What saves you most here is finding out early that you do not need us. If the condition does not hold, this is not your route; and if your papers are ready and you know the order, you can complete it yourselves. The first consultation is free whether you continue with us or not.

What usually stops a file

Knowing these before you start is more useful than knowing them after a reply. These are the most common:

The condition does not hold at allNeither spouse holds Turkish citizenship. This is not a gap in the papers but a different route: registering inside Türkiye at the civil registry.
The spelling of a name differs between documentsOne letter of difference between the marriage document, the passport and the Turkish register is enough for the papers to be read as belonging to different people.
The certification and translation chain is incompleteA Syrian document is not read as it stands: it needs certification and translation in the form the receiving authority requires. An ordinary translation is not accepted, and incomplete certification sends the whole file back.
A mismatch with the civil registerA date of birth, a place of birth or a father's name on the marriage document that does not match what the Turkish register holds.
One party still appears as “married” on the recordIf the record mentions an earlier marriage that was never closed, the file does not move until that is corrected — which is why we check both records before any document.

Mission requirements and the validity of documents change by decision of the authorities; we verify them when we study your case and do not publish figures that may be out of date.

Questions people ask about marriage at the consulate

Is this my route, or registering the marriage inside Türkiye?
If neither spouse holds Turkish citizenship, this route is not yours. Yours is then registering the marriage inside Türkiye at the civil registry, which has its own page. The difference lies in the authority that registers: here the Turkish mission in Jordan, there the Turkish office in your city — and the list of documents differs with it, so prepare nothing before the route is settled.
Do both spouses have to travel to Jordan?
On this route the attendance of both spouses is usually not required. That is a genuine convenience, but it is not a promise from us: the mission may ask for attendance or for a further document depending on the case, and the decision is its own. We tell you what is usual, and tell you the moment anything else is asked for.
How long does the procedure take?
We do not give a timeframe we do not control. Part of the time is yours — gathering and translating the papers — and part follows the mission and its calendar. What we do tell you plainly: which step is in our hands, which step waits on the authority, and where you stand between the two.
What document is issued at the end?
The Turkish marriage record document, known as Formül B. It is issued by the civil registry section of the Turkish mission in Amman, and it is the document the Turkish offices read in the procedures that follow.
Our marriage took place in Syria — can it be registered this way?
That depends on the condition being met and on the form of your document and its certification chain. Send us an image of the marriage document and proof of Turkish citizenship for one of you, and we will say frankly whether this route is possible or whether another one lies ahead of you.
What if one of us still appears as “married” on the record?
The file does not move until the record is corrected. We check both records before you prepare a single document, because finding this at the beginning costs far less than finding it after the file has been sent and its fees paid.
Do you guarantee the application will be accepted?
No, and no office can guarantee the mission's decision. If someone promises you that, ask them on what basis. What we do guarantee is our own work: a reviewed file, checked names, the steps in the right order, and no amount asked of you before you know the full cost.

Registering a Turkish marriageWhat stops most marriage registration files is not a refusal but a document belonging to the other party: a civil record that still says “married”, an out-of-date certificate of no impediment, or a translation without notarisation. The registry reads the two situations together, not only the situation of whoever came to the office. So we start by reading both records before you prepare a single document, then arrange what the file actually needs — including the health report, which no one is exempt from — and follow it through until the family book is issued.Family unification visa from the Turkish Embassy in BeirutThis is not the broad “family reunification” page but one specific route: a visa issued by the Turkish Embassy in Beirut for cases where a member of the family holds Turkish citizenship. The route is a chain: registering the marriage, then an ordered file, then security clearance to enter Lebanon, then the appointment. If one link is missing, nothing after it works — so we start by establishing which link you are standing on, not with a generic list of papers.Family reunification invitation“Family reunification” is one name for several routes, and what separates them is not the papers but the authority that receives them: the migration office inside Türkiye, or another country's consulate. A Syrian document is not read as it stands by either — Syria is not a party to the Apostille Convention, so certification runs through a chain of authorities rather than a single stamp. So we start from both parties' status and from the receiving authority, then prepare what is genuinely required rather than what is usually assumed.Consular proceduresMost of these procedures you can complete yourself. The difficulty is not the procedure but its order and its form: which document is prepared first, which certification comes before which, and in what form each is accepted. And Syria is not among the contracting parties to the Apostille Convention, so a Syrian document needs a chain of certification rather than a single stamp — a chain whose shape is set by the authority that will receive it. Go in the wrong order and you lose both the appointment and the fee.Turkish citizenship“Citizenship” is not one door: there is the ordinary route, the exceptional route through investment, the route through marriage, and citizenship by birth. And time under the temporary protection card does not open the ordinary one — that card gives no right to apply, and its years are not added to your years of residence. So we start from what you hold on paper: which door is open today, then we prepare the file and follow it with you until a decision is issued.

Not sure which route is yours?

Two lines are enough: does either of you hold Turkish citizenship, and where was the marriage contracted? We will tell you which route is yours — and if it is not this one we will say so plainly and take nothing for the answer.
